The resulting company commitment to obtaining different process certifications helps to meet the clients and strategic partners’ needs.
This formal recognitions are the result of a management system assessment by external certification bodies, which assure that the company operates according to International Standards. The company has currently been awarded the following certifications: ISO 9001, on Quality Management System; ISO 14001, which certifies the Environmental Management System; OHSAS 18001, which addresses various aspects of Occupational Health and Safety ; SA8000, on Social Accountability; AS/EN 9100 assesses Quality Management Systems for the Aerospace Industry; the NADCAP for Welding, Heat Treatment and Non-destructive Testing Special Processes.
All these “Systems” help to monitor activities and procedures: certification audits, which are periodically performed, have focused corporate attention on possible areas of improvement and on process development. Ultimately, this means minimizing error and identifying potential risk.
People, rather than rules, play a key role, in that they are essential to the “Systems”. Certifications are gained because the group collaborate and share a set of work instructions, procedures, records and forms. It is a complex yet fundamental procedure.
Even the Japanese, after the Toyota and Lean Production model, have resumed theorizing the fact that, first of all, “it takes good people to make a good company”. The new management models intended to lead companies to a real and lasting success focus on the importance of being a “good” company, where “goodness” is assessed in terms of being good at doing business, and at creating a pleasant working environment as well.
