Ecor Research chose to take up the challenge of innovation and building a research center.
Being aware that innovation is possible mainly through the integration of the world of basic research with the production, the company decided to invest in a private and voluntary initiative, the “The Ecor International Campus”.
The kick-off of this project was in 2014 when, in Castelvetro di Modena, a research laboratory was opened, involving experts of materials and mechanical engineering performing mechanical testing on specific materials in the field of advanced mechanics for complex products with high added value.
The research field of materials are raising an increasing interest in the light of their wide use in various sectors such as the aerospace, automation, food packaging, the production of goods for personal care, biomedical, pharmaceutical. Since, in the course of their employment, such materials are subject to mechanical deformation, measurement and analysis of their properties is an effective tool to prevent problems in the industry.
Yet, the laboratory of Ca’ di Sola is only the first step, because the structure will be transferred in the next two years in a Research Campus of 37 thousand meters in the green hills of Modena in the municipality of Castelvetro di Modena. Here a group of laboratories will be operative managed in an integrated manner with the parent Schio and the main reference centers Emilia, national and international.
In the context of new site, office units of study will be based mainly on the analysis and development of new materials and enabling technologies (rapid manufacturing, tribology, corrosion studies of materials and structures, special materials characterization). A group of engineers will be dedicated to the integrated design of mechanical systems with high efficiency and low cost (design to cost). In addition, a special section will be dedicated to the installation of a series of test benches for testing new solutions in the advanced mechanics. The location of the laboratory within the Emilia region, is the scenario of numerous business ventures that will expand and strengthen visibility of the group in the domestic market and much more.
