On 16th and 17th March we hosted in the company the European research group for “SteelWind” program of the European Commission in which participate, besides Ecor Research, also Centro Sviluppo Materiali, Schaeffler Group, ISQ, Energietechnik Essen, Technical University of Denmark and Gerdau. The partners have visited our plants in Schio, and have shared and discussed the activities progress.
The “SteelWind” project concerns the construction of renewable energy production systems and aims to develop a new steel in order to improve the reliability of components in bearings for wind turbines. In particular, the new material will be more resistant to surface fatigue and corrosion, with advantages in terms of workability. Ecor Research contributes to the work group with the design, realization and implementation of a test bench in which these bearings are tested.
Thanks to advanced production techniques, costs reduction and wind turbine efficiency improvement will be possible.
