Social responsibility, Ecor International adheres to Sedex

L
This global non-profit network of companies and organizations ensures that all subscribed members carry out their activities following specific principles related to business ethics, respect for the environment, health and safety in the workplace and workers' rights.

Ecor International, following a verification audit, became part of Sedex (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange), a global non-profit network of companies and organizations that share social responsibility data through a web platform. This network gathers more than 50,000 members in over 150 countries.

Sedex guarantees that all the participating parties carry out their business activities according to specific standards related to Corporate Social Responsibility and in particular to 4 fundamental pillars:

  • Business ethics
  • Environment
  • Health and safety in the workplace
  • Labour rights

Thus, the network enable members to bring together many kinds of different data, standards and certifications, to make informed business decisions and to drive continuous improvement across their Supply Chains.

The aim of Sedex is to improve working conditions globally, to provide the community with a standard suitable for all sectors based on international human rights standards and on national labour laws and to collaborate with human rights and labour organizations.

The implementation of the principles of social responsibility is assessed by independent certification bodies through the SMETA Guide (Sedex Member Ethical Trade Audit) thanks to which companies can rely on a single globally recognised standard. SMETA publishes a database of certified organizations and continuously improves the assessment system, through which independent bodies perform audits at the companies’ premises.

An independent body evaluated Ecor International. The auditors visited Schio production plant, discussing with workers, both individually and collectively, to verify how they are treated in the workplace and the respect of ethical principles. The respect of the regulations and the policy on quality, safety, environment and ethics have also been examined.

“Joining Sedex qualifies us in a reliable and independent way, as a company sensitive to issues related to Corporate Social Responsibility – explains Alessandra Camerra, Integrated Quality System Specialist. Thanks to Sedex we will be able to maintain and strengthen procedures related to ethics, safety and environment and to demonstrate to interested parties that the policies, procedures and practices comply with the requirements of the legislation. This is a benefit for workers because it guarantees the recognition and respect of their rights; and it is also a benefit both for the company and its customers because we can strengthen a competitive advantage based on the ethical nature of our production cycle”.
