Technological innovation, enterprise, investment on young people: these are the key elements that help companies to compete in an increasingly complex global market.

All these topics were discussed at the “Galileo Science and Innovation Week”, promoted by the Municipality of Padua and Italy Post, during the meeting “Innovation Stories: the competitions between Italian Industries”.

Ecor International and Il Sentiero International Campus CEO Fabrizio Casadei and the Brevetti CEA General Manager Massimo Frasson participated to the conference, conducted by the Eta Beta Radio 1 Rai reporter and host, Massimo Cerofolini.

Technological innovation was the main topic of the debate and the two companies talked about their experiences. Casadei gave the example of Il Sentiero International Campus, the Industrial Research Center born as an initiative of Ecor International that focuses on Surface Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Additive Manufacturing and Joining Technologies studies.

Technological development, both for us and for a larger amount of successful companies, is one of the strategic asset of competitiveness, together with price, cost management and time to market” – said Casadei. “As an independent company in the Research and Development field, both at the service of Ecor International and of other big groups such as Tetra Pak and Leonardo, our experience proves that R&D activities are a profitable business in itself.”

The debate on innovation then focused on competences, another strategic element for companies, becoming more and more aware that they have to invest in human resources and in young workers to grow. Special importance has been given to soft skills, being transversal competences related to people that unfortunately do not appear easily in new profiles. Ability to communicate, human interaction, problem solving are the characteristics that companies are looking for in the candidates.

Technical competences are important and I consider the education offered in Italian schools and universitiessuitable – declared Casadei. – The trend I witness today is the specialization of competences. However, they can also be learned on-the-job, when the career path has already started in the company. In my opinion, more investments are required on soft skills enhancement, that directly influence the ability of a worker to interact with others and to bring added value in the context in which he or she operates”.

The meeting, addressed to young people, highlighted some important topics and was the occasion for future workers to meet companies. Not only: in addition to this event, a delegation of students from all over Italy visited Ecor Internationl Headquarters to see production activities and to know the operating procedures. Finally, Ecor International Human Resources Office met in fact some students, in order to identify some recruitable technical profiles.
