General Manager Fabrizio Casadei talked about Duplex Surface Engineering approach for automatic machines sector.

Ecor Research intervened at the convention organized by the Study Group of Coating and Tribology of the Associazione Italiana di Metallurgia entitled “Surface Engineering for food plants and packaging: how to meet the current food safety requirements during crisis, using Surface Engineering in the best way?”

The conference focused on safety of food industry products, a very complex topic well known by operators of the field that today is oriented to combine the necessary wear and corrosion resistance with the compliance to the regulations on food release.

During the event Fabrizio Casadei, Ecor Research General Manager, talked about the Duplex Surface Engineering approach for the field of automatic machines. This process is included within the study area of surface treatments, aiming at increasing material performance.

The Duplex Surface Engineering, explained Mr. Casadei, includes the application of a double superficial coating to a material aiming at increasing its hardness. When base material has limited mechanical characteristics, some surface coatings with reduced thickness, can be damaged as are not supported by the base material. In the duplex surface engineering the application of an intermediate layer allows the support of the external one, improving the resistance under conditions of high wear and surface pressure.

This innovative application in the field of Surface Engineering, is aim of the study of Ecor Research R&D division, allowing the introduction of new treatments for improving material performance.
