Experimenting to improve

Eurocorr
Ecor Research presents a test on industrial components corrosion at EUROCORR 2014.

EUROCORR 2014 was held in Pisa last September. ECOR Research attended to this annual event of the European Federation of Corrosion, organized by AIM Italian Metallurgy Association.

The last edition of the congress took place in Italy, where the Roman writer Pliny the Elder in the 2nd Century coined the phrase “ferrrum corrumpitur”, that is to say “iron corrodes”.

The aim of the congress was to present the state of the art in the field of corrosion and metal protection, to promote information and share experiences among researchers and operators of the field.

About one thousand participants attended the meeting. Although it was an event at a European level, numerous researchers from all over the world gathered for this occasion, proving the high interest that this science raises worldwide. Works presentation were divided in sections belonging to 20 different topics. Scientific contributions were presented in about 15 minutes each and were followed by 5 minutes of questions from the audience. Most attended sessions were on “Corrosion in Oil and Gas” and on “Coating”.

In this occasion, Ecor Research presented, during the session “Education”, a significant scientific contribution carried out in collaboration with Tetra Pak and Isproma, a company specialized in providing services of research on corrosion. With this work, called “Corrosion test rig for the amelioration of the service life of industrial components” have been collected results of a test on a plant installed in Schio, reproducing the working conditions of Tetra Pak filling machines. This work enabled us to provide an in-depth indication on the level of resistance to corrosion of the main materials and surface treatments.

Ecor Research spread its knowledge on this subject, fostering awareness on issues and phenomena related to corrosion, demonstrating the need for continuous experimentation to improve competences and technical support to customers.
